GFR AT THE FLAMINGO LAUGHLIN
We got up Saturday morning, picked up Joe and Lu, then headed down to Laughlin, via Caravan. Not a bad drive, and this year, no bikers or shootings.
We got to Laughlin, checked in, then went to see the indoor (thank God) venue. A real nice place and it was set up with twin video viewing screens on each side. The GFR merchandise table was set up in the hall outside the venue proper next to the ladies room....nice.
People began filling the venue about 7 PM and by the time the boys came on, it was a full house. Tim F. pumped up the volume and this was one of the loudest shows I have heard in a long time. People were putting their fingers in their ears as they left to go for a beer or to the bathroom. It was great!! One guy even came up to me and said, "You better tell the sound guy that it's way to loud"....yeah, I'll tell him......Anyway, Don did about a minute extra in his drum solo and Bruce really showcased SSB and ILO. The dual large video screens looked great, and I know some professional footage was taken....for what, well, that's anybody's guess. I know the venue was very happy with this show and I hope GFR is asked back, as this is a GREAT venue for a show.
I didn't get any photos of this show 'cause I was busy, so the photos below are some from the trip to California. Joe, Lu, Liz and I drove from Nevada to California on Monday, and it was a very cool and fun trip.
After the show we went to the Casino bar to drink and socialize and bask in the funk. We stayed in Laughlin Saturday night, and drove back to Vegas Sunday to stay in the Monte Carlo. Monday began our journey to California.
