Sunset Station Casino Gig

Liz and I flew out of Newark to Vegas Friday morning, then headed for the Sunset Station Casino. We checked in, then went to check out the outdoor venue. It was hotter than a 40 dollar whore on crack....they say it's a dry heat...dry heat my ass...it was friggin' hot! We met up with Joe and Lu, Mike and Robin (and Christy), Carey, Craig and Nancy, Brad and Denise, Mike and Sharon, and others at the venue. It was good to see everybody again.

It was late afternoon, and we needed to go to Hooters, conveniently located in the Casino. As I walked in, I felt my MoJo gearing up, and I knew it would be a good night. We met up with some other Cyberfunkers at Hooters, including Mary and Dan, Joyce and Rachel and Phoenix Ray, Pardon me if I left out your name, but my brain was tingling due to the Hooters gals.

It was time for the show soon, so we headed to the venue...hey, we have front row seats. The band came out and opened with Bottle Rocket, followed by their normal set list. It cooled off a little, once the sun went down, so it was only about 85 or so. The crowd was rockin' and it always amazes me to see people in the audience singing the words of some of the new songs....don't know whether they heard them before, or they just pick up on the words and melody right away. As usual, Bruce brought down the house with the SSB. One interesting note: when the band went into Closer to Home, and Mel started his deep bass lines, swarms of cockroaches, yes roaches, came streaming up from the front portion of the block stage and onto the top left stage area. There were some people standing back there, and I could see them swatting the roaches with their water bottles. See photo below for the area of the roach attack. As Mel pounded out more bass lines, more of the pesky creatures scurried from their hidden crevices, shocked and vibrated out by the God of Thunder. Mel had just invented a new non-chemical method of controlling roaches. I told Mel about this after the show, and he really got a kick out of it.

We went back to Hooters after the show for some drinks and socializing. We had a busy day planned for Saturday, as we all drove to Laughlin for the next show. Does it get any better than this? NO.
