Grand Funk played at the Hilton in AC on March 18 and 19th. It was Liz's birthday on Sat. so Joe and Lu were flying in as a surprise, so I made like I was going to work Friday morning, but really met Shock at a Diner for breakfast, then we went to Philly airport to meet Lu; Joe was flying in Sat. morning. From there Shock drove to AC and I took Lu back to our house...we parked down the street, and Lu and I walked to the front door; I went in first, then Lu followed me...when Liz saw Lu, she let out a high pitched squeal like a jungle animal, ran towards Lu, then jumped on her and was hanging off of her like a Koala Bear. She was surprised.

 

We drove to AC Fri, afternoon, there were a couple of Big Ass GFR billboards in the area...one on the Ben Franklin Bridge as you leave Philly going into Jersey, and the other on the AC Expressway. We got to the Hilton and started to meet up with some fellow Funkers and friends, including Craig & Nancy, Mike, Robin and Christy, Brenda and girl friend. Sunny and Dena also made this trip. We got to hear some new stuff at sound check, and that was interesting. Before the show, we hit the bar in the Hilton, the Dizzy Dolphin, and that is where we first seen Leather....pure, smooth...Leather. The show started at 9 PM Fri. and was about 250 short of a sell-out. The show was great as usual with the set list being the same...I really wish they would change it up a bit or add another encore.
